Hot on the heels of its link up with YouTube STV is once again going to the US market.

This time it's a format sharing partnership with Kinetic Content.

The deal means STV Productions will licence original Kinetic shows in the UK and vice versa.

Both companies also intend to work together to develop new formats for broadcast in Britain and the US.

There are already a couple of regular social media events in Scotland (such as the New Media Breakfast or Craig McGill's Scottish Social Media Dinners).

The latest to step out onto the landscape is Media140 Scotland which kicks off in Glasgow on Thursday.

Keynote speaker Trey Pennington has drafted up a guest blog piece for us ahead of his arrival in Scotland.

The American, who has 85,000 followers on Twitter, is recognised as a big hitter when it comes to social media uses for business.

So here's what he had to say.

There is a fascinating discussion going on at the Business7 and Insider Linkedin group.

The topic, proposed by Adam Gordon, is whether you or your employer should own the connections you make in Linkedin.

It has already provoked a good level of debate from the members of the group.

We have dipped our toe in social networking at Business7 and Insider over the past year.

Our Twitter feeds have been quite popular (here and here) and both publications are also on Facebook (here and here).

The next obvious step was to do something on the social network most popular with business - Linkedin.

So that was exactly what we did and a new group for Business7 and Insider readers has been set up here.

The subject of online businesses using traditional forms of marketing is something I have touched on before.

Still I was a bit surprised when an envelope bearing the distinctive Google branding came through my letterbox.

Its outdoor billboards championing the Chrome browser have become quite a common site over the past few months but direct marketing seems to be the next step.

The letter contained a leaflet with an introduction to Google's AdWords platform plus a letter and attached coupon giving £75.00 of advertising for free.

This is just something we are going to try out in 2010 and see if people like it.

Not every photograph which gets taken for Business7 makes it into the printed product.

Also we don't really get to thank the photographers who put together the images for our centre spread profiles.

So if copyright and time allow we will try to post photo galleries from those shoots.

Therefore you can find below a few of the shots of Dougal Sharp, of beer company Innis and Gunn, which Lesley Martin (from the Daily Record) took for us but didn't quite make it into the paper.

Interesting one this as flight search engine Skyscanner has launched its first ever old-media advertising campaign.

Ok so strictly speaking a television ad campaign might not be completely old media.

Still from an internet company which has never done any traditional advertising it marks an interesting development.

It's much like the billboards for Google and its Chrome browser which have been appearing in UK city centre's for the past few weeks.

Fans of detective drama Taggart will be pleased by the interim management statement released by STV today.

The broadcaster confirms the long running show will continue regardless of whether any new commissions are received by ITV.

It is a pretty bold move given the costs involved in producing original drama series.

If ITV don't take up the commission for 2010 where will it leave STV?
